چکیده

We investigate the chemical and morphological structure of the Au nanodots on Ge(111) which serve as catalysts for the formation of epitaxial Ge nanowires. The spatial localization of Au is investigated by X-ray spectromicroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. We show that dewetting of an Au film on Ge(111) gives rise to a thin Au-Ge wetting layer and Au-Ge dots. These dots are crystallized but not with a single crystallographic orientation. Thanks to the spatially resolved X-ray and transmission electron microscopy measurements, a chemical characterization of both binary Au-Ge catalysts and wetting layer is obtained at the nanoscale. We show that Ge vertical growth is achieved even without external Ge supply. * Corresponding author. Fax: 0033 389 336 083 Email: [email protected]

Stability and chemisorption properties of ultrathin TiO(x)/Pt(111) films and Au/TiO(x)/Pt(111) model catalysts in reactive atmospheres.

The stability of three ultrathin TiO(x)/Pt(111) films with different stoichiometry and defectivity and the corresponding Au/TiO(x)/Pt(111) model catalysts in CO or a CO-O(2) (1 : 1) gas mixture up to a pressure of 100 mbar has been investigated. According to previous studies, the ultrathin films proved to be effective substrates to deposit in UHV Au nanoparticles with specific morphologies and ...

Au/Rutile Catalysts: Gold Crystallites Transformation in Time at Room Temperature

Quantitative analysis of Au/Rutile catalysts with X-ray powder diffraction showed that gold crystallites got transformed, in time, at room temperature. In this experiment, after aging the catalysts for two days, the morphology of the gold crystallites changed from a cubotahedron into a cube. This diminished the activity of the catalysts for catalyzing the oxidation of CO at temperatures below 2...

Effect of the synthesis conditions of titanium-magnesium catalysts on the composition, structure and performance in propylene polymerization

Supported catalysts synthesized via the interaction of Mg(OEt)2 with TiCl4 in the presence or absence of an internal stereoregulating donor (di-n-butyl phthalate), with different solvents (chlorobenzene, n-undecane, n-heptane) at different titanation temperatures have been studied by a set of physicochemical methods. Data on the chemical composition, X-ray structure and pore structure of these ...
